DIY Closet Baby Nursery

Hey all! Looking online for baby nursery inspiration pointed me in the direction of small space storage solutions. I've found a common theme- babies don't require much space let alone a whole bedroom! Using a small space like a walk in closet makes the perfect smart solution for maximizing your homes space! My husband and I live in a small home in northern California with a master bed/bath and- you guessed it, a walk in closet! We've decided to make a little space work for our little one. Work with what you have and have fun doing it! Babies really don't need much space and will love anything cozy! Have fun- be creative, and think outside the box!

Here's some space solving /decorating Ideas to help point you in the right direction:

1. Hanging fabric shelves for clothes and 'shoes'.
Work with your closet rods!

2. A small dresser or cube storage organizer for a diaper changing station. We use a KALLAX cube from IKEA (only 40 $!)

3. Storage boxes, buckets, totes to fit the storage unit. Or dividers for existing dresser drawers to maximize space within. We got most of ours from the dollar tree!

4. A strap on diaper changing table topper. We have a padded water proof one with edges so baby can't roll off, make sure it's secure! We got ours for 20$!

5. Clothes hamper or basket.

6. Basket or box for toy and play mat storage, blankets, etc.

7. Use your existing shelves for extra storage space or book shelves, diaper storage etc. You can use extra storage totes to store away and make things more manageable. Make sure things won't fall and are safety secured!

8. If you don't plan on side sleeping you'll have a perfect, cozy, darker spot for a baby bassinet or small Crib. (We are using a pack n play for crib stage.)

9. Depending on the size of your closet you may be able to fit a chair for feeding. If not you could place a chair right outside of closet or wherever.

10. Have fun with decorating! Make sure things are safe and not too cluttered so you and baby can rest easy.
